Itinerary

Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda

The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh is one of Cambodia’s most important cultural and historical landmarks. Built in 1866, it serves as the official residence of the King of Cambodia. The palace complex features beautiful Khmer architecture, golden roofs, and peaceful gardens. Inside the complex is the famous Silver Pagoda, named after its floor made of more than 5,000 silver tiles. The pagoda also houses many national treasures, including a gold Buddha decorated with diamonds. Visiting the Royal Palace provides a deeper understanding of Cambodian history, religion, and royal traditions.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21)

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, also known as S21, was originally a high school before being transformed into a prison during the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979. Thousands of innocent Cambodians were imprisoned, tortured, and interrogated there. Today, the museum preserves photographs, prison cells, and historical documents to educate visitors about one of the darkest periods in Cambodian history. A visit to Tuol Sleng is emotional but important for understanding the suffering experienced by the Cambodian people and the country’s journey toward peace and recovery.

Choeung Ek Genocidal Center (Killing Fields)

Located outside Phnom Penh, Choeung Ek Genocidal Center is one of the most well-known Killing Fields in Cambodia. During the Khmer Rouge period, many prisoners from S21 were transported here and executed. Today, the site serves as a memorial to honor the victims. The memorial stupa contains thousands of human skulls and remains discovered at the site. Visitors can walk through peaceful grounds while listening to audio stories about the events that took place there. Choeung Ek stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of peace, humanity, and remembrance.
